Ma Wan

Welcome to Ma Wan

Neighbourhood Features

Ma Wan is an island located between Lantau Island and Tsing Yi in the New Territories. It was once a fishing village with a history spanning over 200 years. Before the 1970s, residents primarily relied on fishing for their livelihoods. It wasn't until the completion of the Tsing Ma Bridge in 1997 that residential and related infrastructure construction gradually took place, including large-scale private housing estate projects.

Subsequently, Noah's Ark, a themed park in Hong Kong, also set foot in Ma Wan, attracting many visitors and tourists from outside the district. As a traditional fishing village, Ma Wan still retains many historically significant buildings, including the Tin Hau Temple and Fong Yuen Study Hall.

In the past, transportation within the area depended on ferry services. Now, bus routes connect residents to Tsing Yi, Tsuen Wan, Kwai Fong, and the airport. Ferry routes to Tsuen Wan and Central are also available, and taxis can enter Ma Wan at any time, significantly improving the transportation network.

As one of the tourist attractions, the island offers various recreational facilities and amenities, including Park Island Beach Commecial Complex, Tung Wan Beach, and Ma Wan Park, meeting the basic daily needs of residents.

Residential Distribution

The largest residential project on Ma Wan Island is Park Island, divided into Park Island Phase 1, Park Island Phase 2, Park Island Phase 3,Park Island Phase 5, and Park Island Phase 6, mainly located along the coastal areas of Pak Lam Road and Pak Lai Road. Most phases offer a certain degree of sea views.

Phases 1 and 3 are adjacent to the old villages of Ma Wan, including Tin Liu New Village and Ma Wan Main Street Village, which are further away from the shore. Phase 2 is close to Tung Wan, offering views of Tung Wan and a distant panorama of Tsing Yi. Phases 5 and 6 are near North Bay, also enjoying sea views and a distant outlook of Sham Tseng across the water.
