Sheung Shui

Welcome to Sheung Shui

Neighbourhood Features

Sheung Shui is located in the western part of the North District in the New Territories, making it the northernmost new town in Hong Kong. Originally agricultural land, it gradually developed and transformed into a mixed residential and commercial area since the 1980s, with the Sheung Shui Station as its central hub. Numerous public housing estates have been completed in the area, contributing to the rising population.

Due to its proximity to the mainland border and the opening of individual visit scheme, Sheung Shui has become a popular destination for mainland Chinese to purchase daily necessities, significantly increasing commercial activities and foot traffic in the area. However, this has also added pressure on community resources and transportation.

To accommodate the rapid population growth, the district has several shopping malls, including Sheung Shui Plaza, Landmark North, Metropolis Plaza, and Sheung Shui Spot , offering a variety of consumer choices to meet residents' daily needs. In addition, the community facilities in the area are quite comprehensive, featuring large parks, North District Sports Ground, libraries, swimming pools, hospitals, and various public facilities.

In terms of transportation, the opening of the cross-harbor section of the East Rail Line to Admiralty has significantly shortened travel time to Hong Kong Island. On the other hand, for residents traveling north to the mainland, the distance to the Luohu border crossing is just one station away.

Residential Distribution

Residential areas in the district are primarily concentrated around the city center. The housing distribution is more centralized, close to Sheung Shui Station and several large shopping malls, providing convenient lifestyle amenities. Private buildings in this area include Noble Hill, Moon Wah Building, San Tsoi Building, as well as subsidized housing like On Shing Court, Yuk Po Court, and Choi Po Court. In the outskirts, there are low-density luxury residences The Green.
