Neighbourhood Features
Sai Ying Pun is located in the Central and Western District of Hong Kong Island, close to the Mid-Levels and the upper area of Central, mainly characterized by residential buildings and schools. It was once occupied by the British military as a barracks, and Sai Ying Pun has since become a vibrant blend of Chinese and Western cultures, with its architecture reflecting colonial influences.
In 2005, the Urban Council launched the Sai Ying Pun Uplifting Programme, which led to the redevelopment of old buildings into historical museums. Subsequently, Sai Ying Pun has undergone gradual revitalization, with the addition of numerous green recreational spaces, while preserving its distinctive blend of Eastern and Western cultural features. Since the opening of the Sai Ying Pun MTR station in 2015, the area has experienced a rapid influx of people, with many restaurants, bars, and unique shops setting up, further enhancing the vibrancy of the district.
Residential Distribution
Residential properties in the area are located along the coast and the foothills. Along Connaught Road West, there are private residential buildings such as Upton, The Met. Sublime, Connaught Garden, and Kwan Yick Building Phase 1, offering varying degrees of sea views and a serene environment with pleasant scenery. Near the MTR station, there is the One・Artlane, and there are also some small shops and eateries along nearby streets to meet the daily needs of residents.
Residential developments concentrated near the foothills are found on First Street, Second Street, Third Street, and High Street. Some of the properties in this area include Kensington Hill, Island Crest, Western Garden, and The Nova, with some in close proximity to the Sai Ying Pun MTR station, enjoying advantageous terrain and more expansive views.
