From theme parks, zoological parks to museums, Hong Kong has everything to make your family trips both exciting and memorable. All you need is to go through the list of places you should visit with your kids in Hong Kong.

Best Places in Hong Kong to Enjoy with KidsSay Hi to Mickey Mouse at Hong Kong Disneyland:

Needless to say Disneyland is the dream holiday destination for every age group, especially for kids.

It is the place where fantasy comes to life. From exciting rides, themed structures to amazing live shows, Hong Kong Disneyland has a wide range of attractions to enthral your family. You feel like as if you have landed on the magical kingdom inspired by fairy-tale dreams.

Located in Lantau Island, the theme park is divided into 7 fantasy zones—Adventureland, Grizzly Gulch, Mystic Point, Toy Story Land, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and Main Street, U.S.A.

You kids will be on cloud no. 9 when they bumped into their favourite Disney characters like Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Mini and Donald Duck on the way. Get ready to experience adrenaline rush while sitting in Space Mountain, one of the largest roller coasters. Sleeping Beauty Castle invites you to get lost in the world of fantasy.

When your kids start craving for food, take them down to Main Street where they splurge on Western or Chinese foods.

To avoid the long queue of ticketing outside Disneyland, book your tickets in advance at their official website and collect them at the Central MTR Station, or at a Disney Ticket booth at the park.

Address: Lantau Island
Opening Hours: 10.30 AM to 8 PM

Get Close to Nature at Hong Kong Zoological Park and Botanical Gardens:

Counted among the oldest wildlife parks in the world, Hong Kong Zoological Park and Botanical Gardens spreads in an area of 5.6 hectares. It was built in 1861 and was opened to public in early 1870’s. And what makes it an exciting holiday spot for kids is its enchanting wildlife and amazing plant species.

The park is the home to 300 birds, 70 mammals and 20 reptiles. Your kids will love to watch the rare species of the animals including Giraffes, Ruffed Lemurs, Golden Lion Tamarin and Orangutans. The wildlife park also exhibits Malaysian Giant Turtles, Chinese Alligators, and Burmese Pythons.

You can introduce your kids to the rare species of the birds such as Red Crowned Cranes, Flamingos and Peacock Pheasants.

Don’t forget to visit the botanical garden that houses over 100 varieties of plant such as Conifer, Fig, Palm, Gum Trees, Dawn Red-Wood and the local Ailanthus.

This is surely an exciting and educational trip for your kids!

Catch the Glimpses of Wonderful Marine Life at Ocean Park:

Ocean Park is a sea theme park known for animal encounters, rides and marine attractions. Located on the south side of Hong Kong Island, the park offers excitement and pure fun to your family.

Ocean Park is less crowded than Disneyland and provides you an opportunity to have tryst with amazing sea life. The park has two sections – the Waterfront and the Summit, which are linked by a sky tram offering a wonderful aerial view of the island. You can also board Ocean Express train running through the mountains to access these attractions.

The two sections are further subdivided into Amazing Asian Animals, Aqua City, Whiskers Harbour, Marine World, Polar Adventure, Adventure Land, Rainforest and Thrill Mountain.

Take your kids on the tour of the North and South Pole where they can get up close with king Penguins, long tusked Pacific walruses, spotted seals, arctic foxes, snowy owls and other unique animals. And Tuxedos Restaurant is the best place to take a break where you can have your refreshments while watching the view of penguins playing on the ice.

Catch the glimpse of exciting marine life at Aqua City, a three level grand aquarium.

Your kids can play with dolphins and hug them at Marine World! Besides, enjoy the fine dining experience at Aqua City Bakery, Neptune’s Restaurant, Panda Café, and the Bayview Restaurant.

Enjoy Spectacular Views of Hong Kong at The Peak:

Let your kids see the breath-taking views of Hong Kong from the height of 428 meter!

Yes, you have guessed it right. I am talking about the wok-shaped roof of the Peak Tower offering you the spectacular view of Hong Kong (especially on a clear day).

But this is not the only reason to go to that height! The multi-complex building houses various shopping centres and restaurants as well. Coming to its shopping side, the building has many outlets selling Chinese artwork, curios, silk, watches, jewellery, electronics, gift and momentos.

Enjoy a wonderful dining experience here at the restaurants like Peak Café, Café Deco, Tai Cheong, and Delifrance. You can visit Peak Circle Walk to capture the beautiful shots of the city. The Peak has a little playground where your kids can take a break. This is also a good place to keep your kids busy while you can enjoy the view.

See Bruce Lee in Action at The Avenue of the Stars:

The Avenue of the Stars is an Asian counterpart of the Hollywood Walk of Fame to honour the celebrities for their contribution in Hong Kong film industry. It runs parallel to the Kowloon’s waterfront and offers you one of the most spectacular walks in Hong Kong. You can enjoy the magnificent views of the Hong Kong skyline and the sprawling Victoria Harbour.

Here you can see the plaques of celebrities like Lai Man Wai, Butterfly Hu, Run Run Shaw, and Tang Wing Cheung.

But the thing that will excite your kids is the 2.5 meter bronze statue of Bruce Lee in ready to strike pose.

The Avenue of the Stars is a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing. Just sit outside and relax, enjoy the sweeping views. You can also attend the daily Symphony of Lights evening free show.

The avenue’s walkway is dotted with cafes and eateries, benches and some of the Kowloon’s great points to interest, such as Hong Kong Museum of Art and Tsim Sha Tsui Clcoktower.

Address: Waterfront Podium Garden, Tsim Sha Tsui
Note: Avenue of Stars is temporarily closed for repair and improvement works until 2018.

Gets Your Hands On Science Models at Hong Kong Science Museum:

After visiting the Avenue of the Stars, you can head in to the Hong Kong Science Museum located in Tsim Sha Tsui East in Kowloon. It is located at the distance of 2.3 km from the Avenue of the Stars.

The museum has more than 500 exhibits on display including Cathay Pacific’s first DC3 airliner, which is suspended from the top.

Most of these attractions are hands-on, meaning that you can try or play with robotics, virtual reality and transportation models. For example, your kids can get their hands on a car simulator to learn how to avoid accidents. Another striking highlight is the 22 meter Energy machine with AV simulating energy.

Address: 2 Science Museum Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui East, Hong Kong
Hours: 10AM–7PM

So these are the attractions in Hong Kong which make your kids’ holiday fun, exciting and learning as well. Make sure to check the websites of these attractions from time to time to stay updated with latest information. And book your ticket in advance to avoid the further hassle or long queue.

Whatever destination you pick, it is for sure that your family return home with a bag full of memories.
